This is my second year attending Megacon Orlando and I’m super geeked about it. The 4-day event is one of the largest for fans of comics, sci-fi, gaming, horror and anime. Every year it’s held in the Orange County Convention Center and with every year it seems to grow in popularity and size. This year it runs from February 1-4.

We had so much fun last year but we ended up missing many great panels and special events because we only attended one day. This year we decided to upgrade to a 4-day pass to ensure we take advantage of as many panels and events as possible.
The convention hall is expansive and the exhibit floor is filled with aisles upon aisles of vendors. You’ll find everything from graphic t-shirts, gaming systems, tricked out cars, keychains, sketch art and so much more.
There were talented sketch artists selling beautiful pieces of work. As a creative myself I always take the time to browse this kind of merch and even make a purchase when I find something that truly grabs me. I love doing my part to support the arts!

I enjoyed the celebrity panels so much that it’s becoming my favorite part of Megacon. You don’t get to see your favorite t.v. and movie celebrities up close and personal everyday so having the opportunity to see and hear them speak at this event was very special.

As usual, the cosplays were fantastic this year. There’s no way to pick one winner because outstanding cosplays come a dime a dozen at Megacon. This year the most impressive cosplays were from Marvel, Star Wars and Dreamworks.
I was lucky to get a front row spot on the red carpet for the cosplay walk. This is a great way to see and get photos of cosplays in an organized fashion and a single location.

What’s your fandom? Whatever it is I’m sure it was represented here at Megacon Orlando. What I love most about events like this is the grand display of artistic expression and the creativity, talent, dedication that went into every cosplay and every handcrafted work of art on the exhibit floor.
HELPFUL TIPS
Megacon Orlando is a fun and exciting event for all ages and is definitely worth a visit if you’ve never attended. If you’re thinking about attending, consider these tips to make your Megacon experience go as smooth as possible.
1. Sign up for Megacon Orlando Email Updates
This way you’re guaranteed to stay informed on all the latest updates on tickets, events, scheduling and celebrity appearances.
2. Purchase Tickets Early
That means as soon as tickets go on sale, purchase them. In 2023 tickets for 2024’s event went on sale in the early Spring. This goes for any paid event, celebrity panel, autograph or photo op. These are guaranteed to sell out fast especially for very popular celebrities.
I highly recommend the prepaid parking option. Remember, the Orange County Convention Center is enormous and you’ll want the most convenient parking option available. Usually you’re provided a few lot options which comes with free round trip shuttle service directly to the event location.
3. Choose Mail Ticket Option
Choosing to have your badge mailed to you before the event will get you inside the building faster. Avoiding the lines for ticket pick up at the event saves so much time and makes a world of difference on the busiest days, Saturday and Sunday. Your badge does not come with a lanyard so you can either buy one before arriving or wait to buy one at the event.
4. Arrive early for all events & panels
The celebrity panels, autograph and photo ops are extremely popular and lines start early. I would suggest lining up one hour before the scheduled time to increase your odds of getting a great seat up front and moving through the line quickly.
I’m already planning and looking forward to next year’s event. Every year I add something to my itinerary that I didn’t do the year before which is exciting. Have you been to Megacon Orlando? Let me know in the comments what event(s) you liked most.
